Overview

Overview

Stone Mill Elementary is a PBIS School!

Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is an evidence-based, data-driven framework proven to reduce disciplinary incidents, increase a school’s sense of safety, and support improved academic outcomes. The premise of PBIS is that continual character education instruction, combined with acknowledgement or feedback of positive student behavior will reduce unnecessary discipline and promote a climate of greater productivity, safety, and learning. PBIS schools apply a multi-tiered approach to prevention, using disciplinary data and principles of behavior analysis to develop school-wide, targeted and individualized supports to improve school climate for all students.

What can I do at home?

Parents are an important and integral part of the PBIS implementation. We encourage parents to use the same expectations and rules that the school teaches. The common language creates consistency and a unified support for expected student behavior. Together the home, school, and community share the responsibility for developing good citizens. Parents, teachers, and students collaborate to maintain a safe, learning environment.
